The Vumms are led by songwriting duo Emilio Marriott (guitar/vox) and Philippe Kogan (guitar/vox), along with Tom Middleton (drums) and Zack Asher (bass). Inspired by acts such as The Velvet Underground and The Kinks, their sound is powered by a blend of genres leaning mainly towards indie pop and garage rock (or "garage pop," if you will), infused with the catchy and melodic songwriting sensibilities of the 1960s. "If you've ever wondered what The Zombies would've sounded like if they were a '00s indie rock band, The Vumms got you covered," says music blog Add To Wantlist.
Songwriters Emilio Marriott and Philippe Kogan met as freshmen in high school and have been writing music together ever since. In 2019, they formed The Vumms, and since then they have released two EPs and a full-length album, a music video, and have performed alongside many notable acts such as Almost Monday, The Red Pears, El Camino Acid, and Televisionaries. The Vumms are currently writing material for their second album.
