The Bootstrap Boys are a twangy Americana band from Grand Rapids, Michigan.

They’ve been making their own signature brand of folk-rock inspired traditional country music since 2015. Their songs come courtesy of lead singer and songwriter, Jake Stilson, who’s career has spanned several decades in both solo and full band projects. Influenced equally by rural Christian bluegrass he was exposed to in the church and the heady country rock of the late `1960’s & 70’s [Grateful Dead, New Riders of the Purple Sage, The Byrds, The Band], Jake and the Boys have developed a sound of their own over the years, drifting further and further away from their folksy-bluegrass sound and charging headlong into a heavier, more electric realm.

Their newest project, their third full-length studio album (titled Hungry & Sober) is slated for release in April 2023. Recorded in Wimberley, Texas at the formerly Austin-based yellow DOG Studios and produced by David Percefull, this 10 song collection is a proper representation of their “weird” [David Lowery, Cracker] Americana style. Described by Percefull himself as sounding like “Colter Wall meets the Dead”, their signature mix of neotraditional country and psychedelic country-rock is on full display.

The Bootstrap Boys are Jake (acoustic guitar, vox), Nick (electric guitar, bgv), Jonny (bass), and Jeff (drums, bgv). They travel the country in their vintage Chevy Coachman RV, affectionately dubbed The Delta Dawn 2.
