With a sound that can be likened to Regina Spektor meets early 2000s pop-punk, this Cleveland-born, Columbus-based artist calls her sound “flannel pop.” Whether she is writing about romantic rifts or talking back to her inner voice, her lyrics color in the gray areas of human emotion most tend to leave in the shadows.
October Ember-
Sometimes playful, sometimes poignant, October Ember is comprised of Jennifer Dutiel & Kevin Holland, a multi-instrumentalist couple with a penchant for the quirky & the beautiful. A cross-pollination of folk, indie lounge, Euro cafe, art pop, & punk cabaret, their exploration of odd time signatures, neo-minimalist pulses, ethereal timbres, & vast dynamic spectra transmutes ontology into sound. With the wisps of softened reeds, dreamy guitars, & intricate percussion, they paint an aural tapestry for the film of existence. They are often joined by the madly talented & delightful Troy Kunkler on drums & vibraphone.
All Powerful Sungoddess-
The Columbus band All Powerful Sungoddess debuted in the spring of 2011 as a comedy duo featuring the vocal harmonies of Eileen O’Sullivan and Lauren Sega, rhythmic ukulele, and songs about finding love and feeling spurned. After cycling through a rhythm section, in 2022 they found solid ground in drummer Seth Alexander and bassist Kyle Perkins, and in January 2023 they released their album Greener.
